A website-tag or web tag is a tool used to gather data on a website. They are installed on a website to allow for the collection of unique information regarding a users online behavior. These tags can appear in multiple forms including:

  • A piece of Javascript code
  • A small pixel
  • A transparent image 

There are different types of website-tags that can be implemented into a website:

  • Possible Prospect Type – a tag that contains values such as Enterprise, Small Business, and Reseller. These tags each have a value that is associated with a particular page or pages.
  • High Value Web Content – a tag that includes values of ‘Contact Us’, ‘Pricing’ and ‘Product’ pages.
