Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of user traffic to a website, through organic search engine results.

Users rely on search engines to provide high quality and relevant results. Search engines will crawl a range of websites, analyzing the relativity to certain topics and keywords. SEO will then highlight the most applicable website related to the search query based on the content of that website.

For business application, SEO is the practice of ensuring a businesses website has a high site ranking in the search engine query, resulting in more traffic being driven to the website.

It is categorized into two different factors;

  • One Page SEO – These factors allow a business to have influence from within the actual website. These factors include technical aspects and content-related aspects such as quality of code, site speed, structure of website and the quality of copy on the website.
  • Off Page SEO – These factors include links from other websites, social media, and marketing activities alternative to the website. Off-page SEO factors can be difficult to influence.
