KPI stands for key performance indicator. A KPI is a measurable value that demonstrates how effectively a company is achieving key business objectives. KPIs can be used throughout a business to evaluate target success. Usually, KPIs are broken down into two types: high-level and low-level. High-level KPIs focus on the overall performance of the business, while low-level KPIs focus on department processes like sales, marketing, HR, and support.
