Click Through Rate Defined

Click Through Rate (CTR) is a type of marketing metric that measures the engagement of customers. Specifically it is the ratio of users who click on a specific link to the number of total users who view a page, email or advertisement.  It is calculated by dividing the number of people who click after seeing an advertisement by the total of number of impressions your ad received. It is commonly used to measure the success of an online advertising campaign, email or content.

Many factors affect CTR, including imagery, keywords, and ad positioning.

High CTR results in means users are finding an ad, keyword or imagery to be highly relevant. This in turn can result in more qualified users visiting a site and performing a desired action.

Low CTR results indicate that users are finding an ad, keyword or imagery to be less relevant.
