Gamification Defined

Gamification is the process of taking something that already exists, such as an application, online community or website, and integrating game play elements or game mechanics to enhance it, as to add value to a product or a service/

Gamification works by taking data-driven techniques that game designers use to engage users and apply them to a non-game experience. On a website or app for instance, this could include features such as badges or leader boards.

By gamifying a website, online community or application, the overall benefits could include;

  • Increased engagement
  • Increased motivation
  • Increased loyalty
  • Increased motivation
  • A strengthened communication processes
  • Innovative dynamics
